Important: The OVAL Compatibility Program was moved to "archive" status in December 2009, and replaced with the "OVAL Adoption Program." Under the OVAL Adoption Program product validation is performed by an external organization, allowing the OVAL Team to focus on educating vendors on best practices regarding the use and implementation OVAL and on how OVAL can continue to evolve as needed by the community.

Approach for Correction of Errors
OVAL definitions consumer capability will be released as separate stand-alone tool that will be supported by our technical support.
There is a standard technical support procedure for addressing errors in NetIQ products. Errors will be fixed by scheduled new releases of the OVAL conversion tool.

Finding Elements Using OVAL
The result of the work of conversion tool will be security template that will contain individual security checks each of which will represent separate OVAL definitions. Those checks will be available through product console and will contain OVAL-ID information.
OVAL Content Importation Process Explanation
- User runs conversion tool that converts definitions file into NetIQ security template
- Using NetIQ SCM console user imports security template in the product
- Security template is ready to be run in enterprise environment
